Senior Medical Statistician – Vascular Disease Mega-trials and Genetic Epidemiology CTSU, Nuffield Department of Population Health, University of Oxford Closing Date : Mon, 23 Nov 2015 13:00:00 GMT | Grade 8: £38,511 – £45,954 p.a. CTSU is a major international research institute within the Nuffield Department of Population Health and is one of the world’s leading centres for chronic disease research. Cardiovascular disease and its consequences are a major health burden and the large-scale clinical trial, epidemiological and genetic data that are emerging provide the opportunity for many investigations with potential implications for population health. We are seeking a Senior Medical Statistician to focus on a programme of clinical trial-related and genetic epidemiological research to elucidate our understanding of cardiovascular disease. You will plan and undertake analyses of large-scale data to explore vascular risk factors and cardiovascular therapies, present results at scientific meetings, and develop manuscripts as part of your general responsibilities for a range of epidemiological, trial-related and genetic epidemiological research projects. You will also have opportunities to contribute to teaching/training programmes and grant applications. You will have PhD or MSc in statistics/mathematics (or closely related subject) and relevant research experience. You will have demonstrated excellent skills and knowledge in applied statistics and statistical programming (in SAS/R or similar packages), have experience of randomized trials and/or epidemiological studies, and have published in related areas. You will be able to work in a multi-disciplinary team or independently and have excellent communication and organisational skills. An appointment at Grade 7 (£30,434–£37,394 p.a.) may be considered for a candidate with potential but less experience, for which an initial appointment would be as ‘Medical Statistician’ with an appropriate adjustment in responsibilities. The post is full-time and fixed-term for 3 years, in the first instance.
