Dear Colleagues,

Happy Labor Day! As fall approaches again, I am thinking of the time we spent together at Cedarbrook Lodge.  I thought you might like to hear about the progress we have made together, towards making our shared vision a reality.  Please see a brief update of our various initiatives attached.

Many of you know that our wonderful project manager, Angela Moore, followed her dream and moved to the country last spring.  As we recruited a new manager, Barbara Karlen the Research Coordinator at our Birth Place Lab deftly supported the work of the Task Forces.

Today I am delighted to introduce you to Lynsey Hamilton who has just joined as the Project Lead for our Summit initiatives.

Lynsey completed her Masters in Public Health Research in Edinburgh and has been working in participatory action research and project coordination at UBC for a number of years. As the Knowledge Translation (KT) and Implementation Science Specialist at the Rick Hansen Institute, she was responsible for both local and national initiatives in best practice implementation and health care research. There she gained extensive experience with facilitating and supporting relationships between diverse groups of clinicians, research networks and community organizations to promote research activities and support practice change. She has also supported the development of an online clinical resource with toolkits, data reports, evidence summaries and patient information references for health care providers. Lynsey also currently supports a provincial initiative in British Columbia to better serve women with spinal cord injury (SCI) throughout pregnancy; this included planning a workshop for clinicians from a variety of backgrounds, as well as women with SCI, creating and analyzing an online needs survey, and drafting an executive summary. She has recently developed information resources for consumers and continues to nurture the relationships with different groups and organizations to increase the reach of the project.

Lynsey will be joining your Task Force conference calls or contacting you directly soon as we move forward with our work and plan our next Summit.  You can also contact her directly at
