Dear all

The Thomas Coram Research Unit will be pleased to welcome staff and students to this lunchtime seminar:

Name: Zhiyan Guo, University of Warwick

Title: ‘Just write love ….. It doesn't matter'

Date: Tuesday 15th September, 1.00-2.00 pm, TCRU Library

In this talk an overview of literature on language brokering and cultural mediation will be provided.  The study explored how children in Mandarin-speaking Chinese families mediate British culture for their parents.   Little research has been done on implicit cultural mediation which tends to occur within parent-child interaction at home.

Zhiyan Guo is a Senior Teaching Fellow in the Language Centre at the University of Warwick, UK. Her research interests include intercultural communication, language acquisition, and language teaching and technology.

Best wishes
