Innovation by Re-Imagining Existing Urban Assets

Learn how existing urban resources can be used creatively, resourcefully and strategically to increase their functionality and improve the daily lives of local
residents. From smaller examples of re-purposing materials and street structures to larger issues of re-imagining Main Streets, the workshop combines practical case studies with examples from the instructor’s own international projects; looking at re-using,
re-purposing and re-imagining a wide variety of urban assets in new and innovative ways.
INSTRUCTOR: Scott Burnham is an urban strategist and design director specializing in leveraging existing urban assets to increase design capability and social
capital. He is the creator of “Reprogramming the City” in Boston, USA and the former director of the cultural regeneration projects “Urbis” in Manchester, UK and the “Trust Design Initiative” in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
