Thanks, Georgia

You are the first that reply me about these questions.
I do not know the answers of first two questions yet.

Best,
Feng

Don't know if anyone has replied privately to you yet but I also have been wondering what the first two (voxels per cluster & expected number of clusters) mean!

I can answer your third query, however; if you are reporting a two-sample t-test then you don't actually need the first value in the degrees of freedom box - that would be if you were conducting an ANOVA. It's basically the number of levels -1, and since you are using a two-sample t-test this is just 2 - 1 = 1. The second value is the number of participants used -

reporting t test;

t(df)=value, p<.05, two-tailed..... where df = 'number of participants - 1' (= the '185' value in your example) and 'value' = insert t statistic for peak voxel

reporting F test (ANOVA);

F(df1, df2)=value, p<.05....... where df1 = number of levels of your IV -1, and df2 = number of participants - number of levels of your IV, for example for a one-way ANOVA with 3 levels & 30 participants your df would be = (2, 27).

But if anyone else knows what the 'voxels per cluster' value means I'd be very interested,

Thanks,

Georgia

Dear SPMers,

I perform two sample t test using SPM. In the result table (attached), there are some items that I do not know what they mean.
1. Expect voxels per cluster, <k> = 91.906, could I use this value for the extent threshold?
2. Expect number of clusters, <c> = 0.19, why the number of clusters is just 0.19? Is not an integer?
3. Degrees of freedom = [1, 185]; what is the first value '1' mean? I think 185 is the dof of my statistical model.

Thanks in advance!

Feng
