Laura,

One thing I would try is looking through the individual results to
make sure everyone was doing the task!

Even after carefully explaining what I want subjects to do, there have
been times when subjects did the task for half the run and then
stopped, or did not do the task at all, but occasionally pressed a
button at random to keep me happy!

Possibly you have an independent record of button presses or some
other feedback that would help you verify that subjects were doing the
task the whole time?
