The IRMS Alison North New Professionals' Award

Now in its seventh year of running is the IRMS New Professionals' Award, kindly sponsored by Alison North.

The award recognises the thoughts, observations and/or contributions of those who are new to our profession. Whether you are someone studying Information and Records Management, newly qualified in the first few years of your career or someone who has just moved into the industry we’re keen to hear your thoughts.

As our industry evolves with issues such as Big Data and Cloud Computing emerging as well as constantly developing concepts such as Information Governance we are looking for the fresh perspective and insight on these contemporary issues that someone new to the profession is able to bring.

Eligibility

You are eligible for this award if you are within the first 3 years of your career in Information and Records Management, whether you are a student, employed or self-employed. There is no age limit.

If you have concerns as to whether you are in the qualifying period for this award, please email in advance to: [log in to unmask]

What do I write about?

If you are employed and newly qualified you could consider how the theory you were taught is actually put into practice, how your studies have prepared you for the role or just an observation on whether your role matched your expectations. Those new to the profession might consider how it compares to previous experiences and students on what they see as the challenges the profession is facing.

These are just some ideas and any topic based around your thoughts, issues or experiences in Information and Records Management would be great.

The Prize

The prize is attendance at our Annual Conference in May 2016 and comprises full delegate fees and accommodation. What’s more is that should the winner already be in receipt of an employer paid/fully sponsored place at Conference, then the prize will be equivalent monies to be used on IM/RM related books, DVDs and/or CPD!

When will I find out?

The winner will be informed before conference in time to allow them to make arrangements to attend conference. The winner will be announced publicly at the Conference Gala Dinner Awards Ceremony, at which they will presented with an award certificate and trophy. Expect to hear from us between February and March.

How do I enter?

By means of a written piece of work between 1500 and 2000 words. This should be emailed in MS Word format to the awards team on [log in to unmask] Once the closing date has arrived, your application will be judged by a small panel of IRM experts including Alison North herself. So don’t delay, start writing today!

Closing Date: 31st December 2015
