Dear Colleagues,
We have lost a great friend and champion of design as a power for good in the world. His openness to new ideas, his own innovativeness, and teaching, his concern for others in and outside of India, the wonderful book he and his wife authored presenting crafts from all regions of India, his entrepreneurship in developing uses for bamboo, his active photography wherever he went, and his work to develop the institutions teaching design in India constitute only a small picture of the man he was. I had the privilege of sharing the podium with him at a breakfast meeting of business men in Australia, and a day touring its South Coast filled with great conversation, ideas, and appreciation of the beauty around us. It is a memory I cherish.

Sadly,
Chuck Burnette
