Even though it is the summer holidays in the United Kingdom, the editors and reviewers of Metal Music Studies toil away without a care for the beach. I am pleased to announce that we have just accepted the second full paper for the first issue (volume two, issue one) of 2016! The paper is “‘Hypocritical bullshit performed through gritted teeth’: Authenticity discourses in Nickelback's album reviews in Finnish media” by Salli Anttonen of University of Eastern Finland. It probes the edges of what is considered proper rock and proper metal, and in doing so I think it probes the boundaries of our journal. The deadline for submissions for those who want to be in the same issue is Thursday 10 September 2015. For full papers submit to Karl Spracklen at [log in to unmask]; for short papers and other things such as reviews and review essays submit to Niall Scott at [log in to unmask]
