**with apologies for cross-posting**

With just over 5 weeks to go, we’d like to draw your attention to all that will be happening at our Conference in York on 14th and 15th September – and to alert you to the opportunities still remaining to attend as a delegate, a sponsor, or an exhibitor.

With a wide range of speakers and delegates already set to participate, we can offer you the opportunity to network with librarians from all sectors, and a variety of commercial organisations.

Our theme is "Back to the Future:  going back to basics in order to secure the future for libraries", and on the serious side, the topics we are covering include

o         Books right here, right now: solutions for improving access to core/ key texts

o         Library Champions Project - engaging students in decisions for acquisitions

  • The Seam Project – more about this here http://www.cilip.org.uk/cilip/blog/even-shelves-shall-sing  and here  www.nag.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/The-Seam-press-release.pdf
  • Copyright scanning and the acquisitions process in HE
  • RDA for Acquisitions Staff
  • Royal College of Surgeons Collections Review Project
  • Black Country Libraries in Partnership and their shared library management system
  • Encouraging children and young people into reading and using their local library
  • The Public-University partnership at the Hive
  • The Digital Library Survey
  • Public Libraries -  the Welsh perspective
  • Ebooks matrix
  • ….. and more…..

And those are just the sessions. We also have

s         The presentation of this year’s NAG Award (sponsored by Nielsen Book), and a session from last year’s winner

s         A Key Note speech from Neil MacInnes,  Head of Library and Information Services at Manchester City Council and President Elect of SCL

s         Drinks reception and Gala Dinner

s         After-dinner entertainment in the form of singer/songwriter Gareth Davies-Jones (who is also participating the  Seam Project session)

s         More after-dinner entertainment in the form of a repeat of last year’s popular casino

s         After-conference entertainment (of a more serious kind) in the form of a tour of the Library & Archive of the National Railway Museum. Please note that places on this tour are limited: email [log in to unmask]  to reserve a place

There really is something for everybody at NAG’s Conference, no matter what your organisation, or your rôle within it. Feedback from last year included -

§         Wide range of interesting topics

§         The content I saw was very relevant and informative.

§         Some great content and inspiring subjects.

§         One of the best things from NAG is talking to colleagues & suppliers & this conference was as good & useful as always.

§         Overall excellent – brilliant networking.

§         Thought the presentations were for the most part of interest to both public & academic colleagues, a good mix

§         Interesting and useful papers. Great networking opportunity

§         Excellent conference and valuable networking opportunity

§         Enjoyed the conference, some good ideas to take back to the day job

§         Excellent opportunity to network and to question colleagues about their experiences with suppliers, publishers and vendor systems and discuss possibilities for innovation/service improvement.

§         As a first time attendee I found it very useful and hope to return in future.
