For the last year we have used a team of casual staff to police noise and other disruption in our main library. To provide them with technology we set up a sms to email service and provided a cheap pay as you go phone for them to use to
read the emails.
First of all, do any of you provide this type of service? If so what sort of mobile technology are you using?
Secondly, we have now come to the thorny issue of data protection. They have been either using our phone and logging into a web mailbox or using their own phone and doing the same thing. However, we are concerned that this could lead
to data security issues. We are changing the password on the mailbox as a start but wanted to check what other universities do in relation to this aspect of the service.
Many thanks.
