DIGITAL LEARNING AT THE YORKSHIRE MUSEUM – TEACHING PREHISTORY IN YORKSHIRE

Thursday 8 October 2015 from 10:15am -1pm

Yorkshire Museum, Museum Gardens, York. YO1 7FR.

York Museums Trust, like many other museums, has been experiencing increased demand for school visits, sessions and resources linked to teaching prehistory with it inclusion on the National Curriculum in 2014. Inspiring by the British Museum’s Teaching History in 100 Objects and building on the work of the Museum’s Digital Team with Collections Online, the museum has been working to produce a brand new digital teachers pack available online for teachers and containing digital resources for use in the classroom, which tell the story of Yorkshire’s prehistory. The project included both objects from the Yorkshire Museum and regional partners. The session will be practical and hands on, exploring ideas around what makes good museum digital learning resources and how they can be created.

Hosted by Martin Fell, Amy Baggaley and Natalie McCaul of York Museums Trust.
