The AGM of the RGS-IBG Geographies of Children, Youth & Families Research Group will take place on Thursday 3rd September, 13.10-14.25 in rooms 1.2 and 1.3 of the Peter Chalk Building, University of Exeter.  The AGM is open to all researchers working with children, youth and families, and we would encourage anyone whose work falls in this area to come along.

At this year’s AGM we have three positions on the GCYFRG committee up for election.

The current Chair of the Geographies of Children, Youth & Families Research Group (GCYFRG), Professor Peter Kraftl, completes his three-year term of office in September 2015.  As such, nominations for a successor are now open.  The position of Research Group Chair is a three-year appointment in the first instance, with the possibility of standing for a further three years at the end of this term.

Three further positions become vacant this summer as current post-holders complete their terms of office:

Conference Officer: Co-ordinates sponsorship of sessions for the RGS-IBG Annual Conference; liaises with the RGS-IBG accordingly; may also play a role in co-ordinating additional workshops/events organised by Research Group members in collaboration with the GCYFRG.

Website Officer: Maintains the Research Group website, keeping committee details and upcoming/recent event information up-to-date.  https://gcyfrg.wordpress.com/

Postgraduate Liaison Officer: Acts as a point of liaison between the GCYFRG and the RGS-IBG Postgraduate Forum.

Holders of any Committee post must be a Fellow or Postgraduate Fellow of the RGS-IBG.  If you have any questions about any of these posts, please contact the GCYFRG Secretary in the first instance: [log in to unmask]"> [log in to unmask]

Elections to all posts will be made at the GCYFRG AGM on Thursday 3rd September at the RGS-IBG Annual Conference, held this year at the University of Exeter. If you would like to stand for one of the available posts please contact the GCYFRG Secretary: [log in to unmask]. Please ensure that you provide the details of two nominators, whose nominations we will verify in advance, should you or they not be able to attend the AGM. Nominators need not be Fellows of the RGS-IBG or be existing members of the GCYFRG committee. The deadline for nominations will be Friday, 28th August 2015.
