Doctoral studentships on ‘Fair, Innovative and Transformative Work’

The Scottish Centre for Employment Research and Department for Human Resource Management at Strathclyde Business School offers three fully-funded PhD Studentships around the theme of ‘Fair, Innovative and Transformative Work’.
All three studentships are funded full-time from October 2015. Studentships cover UK/EU tuition fees plus an annual stipend (currently paid at £14,057 for 2015/16, not subject to tax).

Two of the three studentships are fully-funded by the University of Strathclyde. The third studentship is co-funded by Skills Development Scotland and Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC). (ESRC's residential and academic eligibility criteria apply see www.esrc.ac.uk/funding-and-guidance/postgraduates/prospective-students/eligibility/index.aspx<http://www.esrc.ac.uk/funding-and-guidance/postgraduates/prospective-students/eligibility/index.aspx>).

About the PhD studentships

Workplace innovation has emerged as a key issue within the EU – there is acceptance within policy and business communities that we need to empower employees to be innovative in the workplace in order to improve productivity and competitiveness. Workplace innovation has also emerged as a key element of the Scottish Government’s ‘Fair Work’ policy agenda. Scottish Ministers have established the Fair Work Convention to look at how we can help employers to improve job quality, encourage employee engagement and promote workplace innovation.

The University of Strathclyde’s ‘Fair, Innovative and Transformative Work’ (FITwork) project has been awarded substantial funding to research these issues in collaboration with employers, employees, unions, policymakers and other key stakeholders. FITwork expands upon our recent ‘Innovating Works’ project, which helped SMEs to explore the potential of workplace innovation. Further information is at: www.innovatingworks.org.uk<http://www.innovatingworks.org.uk/>

We want to recruit three doctoral researchers to join a growing research team investigating this exciting and cutting-edge area of workplace research.
