In an open letter to the Journal, the group who did not wish to be named said: "The people of Carmarthenshire are seeing a disastrous scenario being played out before their eyes in relation to our heritage Services.

"Both the museums and archives' office are under threat with no long-term vision being articulated for their future.

"Worse still, the provision that exists is in a slow but deathly decline with the archive collection removed from the county and, seemingly, with no definite plans for its return."
