Clinical Trials Unit Statistician CancerSciences Location: SouthamptonGeneral Hospital Salary: £28,695 to £35,256 Full Time Fixed Term Closing Date: Tuesday 01 September 2015 Reference: 602215CM The Southampton Clinical TrialsUnit (SCTU) is a UKCRC registered unit, and was set up in 2006 to design andconduct academically led clinical trials. The Unit employs trial managers,trial coordinators, data managers, statisticians and regulatory staff. It has aclose relationship with the Research Design Service South Central office in theFaculty of Medicine and with other registered Trials Units across the UK. Wemanage several high quality multi-centre clinical trials that will directly influenceroutine clinical practice, and we have close links with the MRC Clinical TrialsUnit, London. The Unit is core funded by Cancer Research UK and has CTUsupport funding from the NHS National Institute for Health Research and isbased at Southampton University Hospitals NHS Trust. We have an exciting opportunityto work within the clinical trials unit. You will work with the SeniorStatistician and the trial teams and will take responsibility for trialanalysis plans and interim and final trial analyses while developing expertisein study design and grant application writing. Candidates should have suitableexperience in statistics or another relevant discipline. In addition, youshould be familiar with either STATA or SAS, have good communication skills,possess initiative, and be able to work effectively within a team. The position is available on a 1year fixed-term contract in the first instance. The salary offered within therange will depend on experience. The post is available on a full time basis andwill be based within SCTU at Southampton General Hospital.
