- Free Pre-ToScA conference: CCPi Imaging Workshops (2 Sep 2015)
(Note slight reschedule of times)
The University of Manchester welcomes researchers at all levels to the CCPi imaging workshops where
delegates will gain insights from and engage in troubleshooting sessions with specialists in Avizo and
Drishti/Prayog. The two half-day sessions will be held at the Photon Science Institute, home to the Henry
Mosely X-Ray Imaging Facility, on the 2nd September (immediately prior to the Tomography for
Scientific Advancement Symposium on 3rd-4th September).

Confirmed speakers on Wednesday 2 September include;

- Morning from 10am; Ajay Limaye (Drishti) “New topics and advanced use within version 2.6 of Drishti
including updated version of Paint (release in July 2015; https://github.com/AjayLimaye/drishti/releases)" and

- Afternoon from 1:30pm; Remi Blanc and Joseph Baptiste (FEI/Avizo) “Presentation/demo/workshop for
advanced usage of Avizo 9 (http://www.fei.com/software/avizo3d/)”

The aim of this survey is to consult with the CCPi (Collaborative Computational Project in Tomographic Imaging - ccpi.ac.uk) community to identify any current development needs (in terms of equipment, software or personnel), with the aim of aligning these needs with future funding and / or collaboration opportunities.

- The next CCP Steering Panel will be in Monday 14 December 2015 and we will have a Working Group meeting prior to this.
New nominations for main CCPSP Chair sought: "Following the meeting on 24 June, it was agreed that we would extend the request for nominations for a new CCPSP Chairman to all representatives of the CCPSP, as well as the CCP Chairmen.  I (David Corney) am therefore reissuing the initial request below and would ask for nominations to be sent to me by FRIDAY 14 AUGUST 2015."

Other Training Courses over Summer:

- Diamond Manchester Collaboration, CCPi and HIP, the University of Manchester and Diamond Light Source will be running a 2 day course on the Visualisation and quantification of tomographic data. The course will be based both around open-source software (ImageJ) and commercial software AVIZO Software course. 28th and 29th of July 2015 at Diamond Light Source. 28th July 2015, Introduction to X-ray Computed tomography. Avizo standard workshop. This will cover loading in data sets, image processing, segmentation and visualisation (ImageJ and Avizo) - 29th July 2015, Introduction to Avizo Fire workshop (quantification). - Computing Insight UK 2015 www.stfc.ac.uk/ciuk Computing Insight UK will take place on the 8-9 December at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry – replacing the renowned Machine Evaluation Workshop (MEW). The event will build on the heritage of the MEW and offer you the chance to hear about the latest developments in high performance computing, cloud and data analytics.
