Hi
Thank you for your comments, my initial thought was the 10 year retention period as this was my interpretation of the Ministry of Justice
and
ACPO 2006 Guidance on the Management of Police Information but it’s always useful to ask fellow colleagues in ‘the field’ so to speak!
Also yes absolutely all documentation is being held at the moment in light of the Goddard Enquiry
Thanks again

I’d second Madi’s comments – due to the Goddard Inquiry, worth retaining for the time being until the ‘hold’ on social care records is lifted!

Hi Leanne
I have previously categorised these under Adult Safeguarding Records – as they form part of the investigation – but I will now go and ask some further questions
about this.
If you are talking about actual MAPPA docs as issued by the MAPP (minutes, etc). I have no information on those.. and am glad you have raised it so I can go and
find out!
For case files, the retention period we used at Sutton is last contact with client or family + 10 years, i.e. so even if the client was deceased and there was on-going
contact with family, the records would still be retained. We did this on the basis that not all safeguarding issues were resolved by the death of a client. The 10 year period was recommended to us by Kent County Council.
However, in the light of the Goddard Inquiry, we are now likely to cease destruction of these records for the time being anyway.
I hope that helps - let us know if you find out anything substantive we can all use.
Kind regards
Madi

Subject: MAPPA Retention Query
Hello All
I have received a query regarding adult social care records for a MAPPA case the adult is recently deceased, I can find very little and conflicting retention on such cases for Local Authorities, if anyone has any knowledge of these I
would be very interested to see how long your retention is for them.
Kindest Regards
Leanne
