Hi Sarah
The brilliant Chris Packham from Enviroderm is your man to talk to. He
is a frequent contributor to Jisc discussions relating to Skin. The HSE
have quite a lot of material on their website in relation to skin etc...
I would definitely go with cotton glove liners if possible. The chap
probably needs a risk assessment / COSHH assessment by health and safety
to determine is actual exposures and provide the appropriate PPE. Does
he have any input from his GP/Dermatologist?
Many of us would not advocate the use of Barrier creams.
I'm sure Chris will pick up on this email.
Good luck
Paula

Subject: [OCC-HEALTH] Skin health surveillance
I have recently seen a gentleman who tends to get psoriasis on his
knuckles. He uses gauntlet style gloves as handles a lot of industrial
waste for prolonged periods. The commercial barrier and conditioning
products he feels don't help him. I have referred him back to his GP to
discuss but I was wondering about options to help. I was thinking about
cotton gloves inside to help reduce rubbing/provide protection - does
anyone have any thoughts and where is a good supplier for cotton gloves
for this kind of purpose? Would also appreciate any resources/links for
skin health/protection/surveillance as this is not an area where I have
much experience. Many thanks.
