As a committee member of Thames Valley Occupational Health Group, we see assisting our members with revalidation as a new, but very important role for the Group. I would urge all OH Professionals, but lone practitioners in particular, to join their local OH Group to benefit from this as well as all the information-sharing and networking opportunities .

Kind Regards,

Hi Kay

Nice to have your question on jisc as I expect are a lot of people wondering the same thing. As I understand it at present the pilots are now finished and are going to be evaluated. Once this is done I expect there to be some guidance on revalidation from an OH perspective, Diane Romano Woodward has been heavily involved so she may well comment on progress with this.

I am in the same boat as you and will look at using a colleague, registered with the NMC, to work with me on this in the absence of a system. I do think in time an OH revalidation system that anyone can access would be the best way forward, this would also cater for those who, for whatever reason, do not want to use their manager and/or work overseas.

Best

Karen

Subject: [OCC-HEALTH] Revalidation

As my 3 yearly registration is due early next year I am starting to develop my revalidation portfolio in line with the NMC templates.

I'm just wondering how others out there who work alone are going to get another person on the NMC register to discuss their reflections and sign them off. I know HR can sign some things off, but some elements are quite clear about it being another person on the register.

You are required to have a PDD with another NMC registrant covering your written reflections on the Code, your CPD and practice-related feedback.

You must discuss these reflections as part of a professional development discussion (PDD) with another NMC registrant and may be required to upload a signed PDD form.

Can I politely ask people not to make comments like - you shouldn't be working with no input form other OH professionals - I don't, but that isn't the same as having somebody to discuss things with on a one to one basis. I make this comment as I rarely post to Jisc due to previous negative comments unrelated to the question I've asked and am posting today with trepidation!

Thank you

Kay
