Dear colleagues,
The latest issue of JOMEC Journal is out now, entitled 'The meaning of Migration'. The articles investigate the meaning of migration in the current conjuncture and existing work on migration in relation to media coverage, political agendas and humanitarianism. It makes a case for the inherently political nature of migration as an unfixed, contested and continually reinvented concept conditioned by multiple specific, local and transnational heterogeneous contexts.
My own article examining diasporic media involvement in the Somali conflict and the media's potential to re-create it amongst diaspora Somalis is included in this issue.
