Learning technologist for exciting international project at the RVC

The Royal Veterinary College e-Media department is looking for a learning technologist to assist in the development of novel online learning courses which will be used to train veterinarians working around the world in topics relating to the control of foot-and-mouth disease, a highly infectious and economically important disease of cloven hooved animals.

This role is part of an ongoing collaboration between RVC and the European Commission for the Control of Foot and Mouth Disease (EuFMD), which is part of the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations.

The learning technologist will work with subject experts at EuFMD and, the e-Media team at the RVC, to design a number of online training modules, which are hosted on a dedicated Moodle platform.

Required:

·         Qualification, or high level of experience in online teaching and learning or in adult education

·         Proficient use of virtual learning environments, particularly Moodle

·         Experience in the development and design of e-learning courses and resources.

·         Proficiency with course authoring tools, particularly Adobe Captivate

·         Independent, creative, innovative thinker, enthusiastic to create interactive, engaging and novel e-learning resources

Desirable:

·         Video creation and editing skills

·         Graphic design skills

·         Experience of creating training resources for an international audience, including translation of e-learning materials

·         Interest in animal health or international capacity building

The role is initially for 3 months, working 5 days per week on a self-employed/consultancy basis. There is a strong possibility of extension for the right candidate. The candidate should be able to work at the RVC’s Camden or Potters Bar campuses, but there will be opportunity for some home working as part of the role. We are looking for somebody who can start work as soon as possible.
