Statistical oddities "The decline in library attendance is being driven by a significant decrease in the proportion of girls who have visited in the last 12 months. In the 11-15 age bracket 82.0 per cent of females had visited a library in 2008/09 whereas in the latest results this figure has dropped to 74.7 per cent. There was no difference in the proportion of males visiting a library between 2008/09 and 2014/15 in any age range. There was also no significant difference between the proportions of boys participating in comparison to girls in the latest headline measures." [p.21] This is most odd! There also seems to be a error in the PA and GUARDIAN reports on the number of libraries in England. The CIPFA tables show: England Total: Static Libraries March 2010 = 3041 March 2014 = 2908 Fall = 133 Mobile Libraries March 2010 = 385 March 2014 = 234 Fall = 151 Total = 284 DCMS : July 2015 Taking Part 2014/15 - Annual Child Report | Statistical Release https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/447730/Taking_Part_2014_15_Child_Report__Repaired_.pdf Frances Hendrix Martin House Farm, Hilltop Lane, Whittle le Woods, Chorley, Lancs, PR6 7QR Tel: 01257 274 833.
