Make your Message Stick - Ned Potter
Date: Friday, 11 September 2015 - 10:00am to 4:30pm
Venue: The University of York (Harry Fairhurst building/LFA/015), University Road, York, YO10 5DD

As the requirement to present to an audience and create presentations for use online becomes ubiquitous across many different information roles, Ned Potter's course equips delegates with the skills and confidence they need to excel at it.
Another chance to attend this popular course.

"Really interesting, learnt lots of new things. Very relevant. The most I have learnt in a workshop for ages, very, very useful and I will be acting on the ideas."

"Really interesting and useful, very helpful to have this training from an actual librarian - increases relevance. Brilliant speaker, easy to hear and interesting, inspiring presentation."

Course Outline:
There is a large proportion of hands-on time with both PowerPoint and Prezi in this workshop, but delegates can be assured this not the kind of course where you are asked to present publicly and be critiqued by your peers!

Aspects of presentation skills covered include:
No more death by PowerPoint! Making beautiful and incredibly effective sides in three different styles
Presentation preparation: researching content, tailoring to different audiences and rooms
Where to find fabulous (and copyright cleared) images and fonts to use in presentations
Presenting: practice, delivery, confidence - and finding what works for you
A guide to using Prezi, the zooming presentation software
Advanced tips and how to make messages stick - what the research shows

Who should attend?
Information professionals at any stage of their careers who wish to improve a range of presentation skills can attend; a basic knowledge of how PowerPoint works would be an advantage.
