PhD Studentship – Bangor University, Wales

 

Applications are invited for a PhD studentship at the Centre for Health Economics and Medicines Evaluation, Bangor University, in collaboration with the Walton Centre, Liverpool. This full-time, 3-year studentship provides full support for tuition fees (for UK/EU nationals), all associated research costs and a tax-free stipend of £18,458 in the first year, with annual increments thereafter.

 

Supported by the Motor Neurone Disease Association, through donations including the ‘Ice Bucket Challenge’, this PhD will aim to estimate the costs associated with MND, measure patients’ health-related quality of life and develop an economic model for assessing the cost-effectiveness of medical interventions.

Eligibility Requirements

 

Applicants should hold a first class or upper-second-class degree in economics or a relevant quantitative or clinical discipline.  A Masters qualification (e.g. in health economics) would be a distinct advantage.

 

The award is available to UK and other EU nationals only. Non-UK EU nationals must be resident in the UK for three years prior to the start of the studentship, otherwise they will be eligible for a fees-only award.
