I agree- it's become an invaluable resource of really high quality. I do hope that someone is knocking at the door of new funders who will see the value in providing free resources of this kind. Thank you to all the team

Thank you for your warm feedback Eleanor – it’s great to hear that the Beginners section is having such a positive impact.

It’s been an incredibly rewarding project to work on, and I’d like to also thank my team Catrin Ashton and Tom Glew, and the fabulous Ozzy of Promo Professionals for his wonderful animations.

I am sad to hear this news. ESOL Nexus for me is the gold standard of online resources. The reliability, authenticity and relevance of the materials is unparalleled. The fact that this is available to all, free of charge, and will continue to be, is to be celebrated.

I recommend ESOL Nexus to all my students, as well as using it in many ways in class. As Angela says, there’s a great flexibility to the way you can access it. One feature I particularly like, working with low-level literacy students, is the clarity and simplicity of the “Beginners” section, especially the animated videos.  It’s a shame that, after all the work that has been put in, and just at the point where mobile technologies are ready for the kind of content ESOL Nexus can offer, that the funding for further development has come to an end.

Many thanks to all who have made it such a goldmine. I plan to continue using the site, and pointing my students in that direction, for years to come.

Eleanor

I still use this website even from abroad. The great thing about it is is accessibility from a range of perspectives.

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to give you a quick update on the ESOL Nexus project. Although our project funding from the European Integration Fund comes to an end today, the website and all the teaching and learning resources on it, will continue to be maintained by British Council and remain free and accessible for all. However, there is no plan at present to develop further resources for the site or participate in future ESOL events.

On behalf of the ESOL Nexus team we would like to thank you, the ESOL community, which has been overwhelmingly positive and provided us with gratefully received, support and advice at every step. It has been a pleasure to meet many of you at ESOL events, workshops and conferences, mostly recently at NATCELA London - and learn more about the great work you all do in a difficult time for the sector.

Thank you for all the feedback on the site in the form of emails, messages and comments that you have provided over the course of the project. This has been absolutely invaluable in informing the development of the types of resources that we felt could best meet your needs as teachers and those of your learners.

We would also like to thank all those colleges who have piloted resources for us in the past and all the learners who participated in piloting or at other workshops and events.

Last but not least, a huge thank you to all those, past and present, who have worked with ESOL Nexus over the past 4 years. The site has come a long way since the beginning of the project and currently averages over 100,000 visits a month, which is a testament to the hard work of all those involved in creating resources that learners and teachers would actually want to use. A special mention to Mr.ESOL Nexus, Phil Bird, who has been with the project since Day 1 and has contributed enormously to the success of the project - take a bow!

As today is my last day working on the project, can I ask you email ESOL Nexus at [log in to unmask], or the project director Margita Hydon at margita.hydon@britishcouncil if you have any questions.

Best wishes and good luck,

Dan
