From October 2015, a new collection of twenty filmed stage productions of the major works of Shakespeare from the world famous Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre will be streamed exclusively through leading study platform, Drama Online. The content will also feature educational media company, Stage on Screen’s filmed productions of key set plays: Doctor Faustus by Christopher Marlowe, School for Scandal by Richard Brinsley Sheridan, The Duchess of Malfi by John Webster and Volpone by Ben Jonson.  The Manchester Royal Exchange’s sell-out hit, Hamlet starring Maxine Peake in the title role and a Shakespeare masterclass by leading acting coach, Patsy Rodenburg, will also debut online for the first time.

These new content partnerships will follow hot on the heels of the release of 350 audio plays from L. A. Theatre Works later this month and 350 playtexts from specialist drama publisher, Nick Hern Books in September, enhancing Drama Online into a fast-growing multimedia study resource and taking the total content set to above 2000 titles.

Drama Online is an award-winning study resource available on subscription to schools, colleges and higher education institutions. Originally created by Bloomsbury Publishing Plc and Faber and Faber, the resource currently includes 1200 playtexts from Methuen Drama, Arden Shakespeare and Faber and Faber, 700 images from the Victoria and Albert Museum and American Shakespeare Centre, and a growing list of scholarly works.
