East Dunbartonshire’s War: Education Co-ordinator 

An opportunity has arisen for a freelance education specialist as part of the 
‘East Dunbartonshire’s War’ project.  

You will create education resources on the impact of the First World War on the communities of East Dunbartonshire based on our Archives & Local Studies collections.

You must have a proven track record of producing quality education resources within an archive/library context plus thorough understanding of the Curriculum for
Excellence. 

Work must be completed by Feb 2016 to comply with funders deadlines. The fee is £10k for 40 days work.

Candidates are required to be current members of PVG scheme.

This Project is supported by the Scottish Government Public Library Quality Improvement Fund.

Specific tasks to include:
•	Research a number of themes relating to the impact of the FWW on East Dunbartonshire using EDLC Archives and Local Studies collections, plus any additional material identified by local history groups or held by local communities and families.
•	Develop FWW educational materials and content for schools which use a combination of archive and local studies material and creative practices such as drama to enrich pupils learning.
•	Write a resource suitable for Year 3 Social Studies pupils, and liaise with teachers from 3 pilot secondary schools.
•	Develop a series of activities for primary schools based on the EDLC collections for use in the classroom and/or on visits to EDLC archives and demonstrate how to deliver these activities to EDLC staff.
•	Consult with teachers, East Dunbartonshire Council Education staff, heritage groups, EDLC colleagues and other organisations who might advise and/or contribute to the project.
•	Consult with the archivist and other colleagues to ascertain the scope, quality and potential of the EDLC collections and how they might be used for educational benefit.
•	Liaise with teaching staff to ensure the resources developed are fit for purpose and support the objectives of the Curriculum for Excellence
•	Draw up a programme to pilot the Year 3 resource with 3 secondary schools in liaison with identified staff members. The pilot will commence in June or August 2016 depending on school preference.
