The Society field meeting programme detailed is as follows:


Saturday and Sunday 20th & 21st June 2015, Scarborough: Memorial Meeting in honour of Dr Martin Whyte (1945 - 2013)


Sunday 26th July 2015: the Role of geology in the origin of the dramatic scenery of the Malham District: Leader Doug Holiday


Thursday 10th - Sunday 13th September: The Chalk of the Northern Province: its regional context: Joint Symposium, University of Hull.

Thursday 9th - Tuesday 13th October: Field Work on Namurian Stratotypes in Northern England: Preparatory Work throughSummer 2015, followed by Study Visit byInternational Subcommission on Carboniferous Stratigraphy

Outline of the Society's programme of indoor meetings for the remainder of 2015 is:

Saturday 31st October - Sunday 1st November 2015, Scarborough. The William Smith Map Bicentenary Meeting: "Superposition and correlation: William Smith's principles applied to 21st century Yorkshire". Joint Meeting with the Scarborough Museums Trust and the Rotunda Geology Group. Organiser: Pete Rawson. Saturday: morning: tour of the Rotunda Museum. Afternoon: Yorkshire Geological Society meeting with papers on the Bicentenary meeting theme. Sunday: Field excursion: walk around Scarborough's William Smith Trail.

Saturday 14th November 2015, 2pm - 5pm, University of Leeds. Joint meeting with the Leeds Geological Association: Geology in northern high latitudes.

Saturday 5th December 2015, 2.30pm - 7.30pm, Weetwood Hall, Leeds: President's Day: Annual General Meeting, Presidential Address by Dr John Knight, Reception and Buffet.

The next Part of the Proceedings of the Yorkshire Geological Society  (Vol. 61 Pt. 1) will be published in June 2015; in the meantime all the papers to be published are already available on line through the Lyell Collection's "Online First" at:
