In my experience those buying the work collect it. And if they can’t they arrange for a courier to collect it.

If you are going to be doing the arranging of the courier I would take payment for this in advance of sending the work. That way no fees for you are incurred.

I would maybe get in contact with The New Ashgate Gallery in Farnham as they sell all the art & craft on display and these range in sizes and weights. They may be able to recommend a courier.

Good luck!

Subject: Delivery of Exhibition works

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone could offer a bit of advice.

We are co-producing an exhibition with a local photographer whose work will be for sale. Some of it is quite large, heavy and includes glass in the framing.

The works will not be available to purchasers until after the exhibition but I don’t know how to quote for/organise the carriage of transporting them. If the purchasers are local, the artist is happy to deliver, however, if they are not, we don’t want to get landed with a big delivery bill.

Does anyone have experience in this area? Is it expected that the venue organises this or should the artist? Are there accepted rates for set distances? Should we be involving a specialist company and if so, does anyone have any recommendations?

To give some context - the largest works are 1417mm Wide x 1170mm High, come in a wooden packing crate and sell for about £900.

Many thanks,

Lisa
