The statement has been worded to apply to the employees that we are already dealing with on a daily basis with the company logo on the top of the statement which we have been asked to sign. It includes the usual threat of disciplinary action of confidentially is broken. We do not currently have any external contracts. So in essence I believe it is all patient confidentiality issues around medical sensitive information already covered in the Code.

Apparently SEQOHS advise that a confidentiality statement is good evidence of a certain standard. I can see the need maybe for admin staff to have this added but I don't see any real value in such a statement internally for nurses who are already bound by clear NMC rules about such matters. Seems literally a paper exercise to me.

Anyone any further thoughts who has gone through SEQOHS?

Re: [OCC-HEALTH] SEQOHS Confidentiality Statement Does this agreement apply to confidentiality of the organisations you will be serving rather than clients and “clinical” issues which is where the NMC Code applies.

It has been stated that in order to obtain the above accreditation our OH department will have to sign a confidentiality agreement. I may be a bit slow, but aren't we already covered for this by our very registration and NMC code? Please can anyone enlighten me who has gone through this process exactly what is involved?
