> Overview: Following the establishment of the West Midlands CLAHRC, a five-year programme funded by the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) with matched funds provided by local health and social services, and publication in December 2014 of the revised NICE Intrapartum care guideline, NCT and the lead for the West Midlands’ Maternity Theme are delighted to collaborate to organise this conference at the University of Birmingham.

> Our aims for the conference are to:

> share good practice in midwifery-led intrapartum care services
> help maternity service managers and practice leads consider how to action the recommendations and priorities for implementation set by NICE
> showcase new research on home birth awareness and services
> extend opportunities for development of birth centres, and other innovative, woman-centred models of care.
