Apologies for cross-postingPlease share widely with your colleagues and studentsAna NIHRCollaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care North WestCoast: Health Inequalities 16 Exciting PhDStudentships The National Institute for Health ResearchCollaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care North WestCoast (NIHR CLAHRC NWC) brings together NHS organisations, local authoritiesand academic leaders from the Universities of Liverpool, Lancaster and CentralLancashire, to accelerate the translation of research findings into serviceimprovements and maximise the potential for applied health research within thepartner organisations to improve health and reduce health inequalities.   The key focus of the NIHR CLAHRC NWC’sapplied health research and implementation programme is to find effective andinnovative ways to tackle health inequalitiesacross the region.  The NIHR CLAHRC NWC is now invitingapplications from exceptional, innovative and interdisciplinary individuals forfull-time (3 years) PhD studentships to start in the forthcoming academic year(2015/2016).  Students may choose to study at eitherthe University of Liverpool (6 studentships available), Lancaster University (5studentships available) or the University of Central Lancashire (5 studentshipsavailable).    NIHR CLAHRC NWCstudentships at Lancaster University Forinformation about the five opportunities at LancasterUniversity please contact Dr Ana Porroche-Escuderofor an informal discussion.  In preparing and developing your application, we recommend you contact the highlighted project lead for more detaileddiscussion of your researchproposal. We also recommend you to use the CLAHRC NWC’s Health Inequalities AssessmentToolkit to ensure that your project fits the CLAHRC criteria.  Theproposed projects are listed below for information.      
    
   - A project looking at chronic illness, economic insecurity and employment in system resilience in disadvantaged neighbourhoods (Project lead Dr Paula Holland)
    
   - A project looking at interventions aimed at increasing system resilience in disadvantaged neighbourhoods to enhance health and wellbeing amongst young people (Project lead Dr Mark Limmer)
    
   - A project looking at the role of neighbourhood resilience enhance recovery in the context of psychosis and severe mood disorders amongst people living in disadvantaged socio-economic circumstances (Project leads Professor Seven Jones and Professor Fiona Lobban).
    
   - A project exploring the health and social impacts of participatory arts projects for supporting older stroke survivors and those with early stage dementia (Project leads Professor Christine Milligan and Dr Amanda Bingley)
    
   - A project looking at work, health, and health inequality (Project lead Professor Ian Walker and Professor Bruce Hollingsworth).
    
   - A project looking at real-time mapping of health inequalities (Project lead Professor Peter Diggle) 
    
   - A project looking at mapping and managing the care of people with end stage alcohol related liver disease (MEDAL) to develop an integrated end of life care service (Project leads Dr Nancy Preston and Dr Mark Limmer)
    
   - A project looking at disability and socio-economic inequalities in health (Project leads Professor Carol Thomas and Professor Chris Hatton).
