Today is the
800th anniversary of the signing of the Magna Carta.
To mark the 800th anniversary of the signing of the Magna Carta, the the World Wide Web
Foundation, British Library, Southbank Centre and British Council have launched a collaborative project Magna Carta: My Digital Rights to
encourage school children to consider what a Magna Carta of rights for a digital age would look like. Topics being explored include online surveillance, censorship and cyberbullying.
But this is not the first time the Magna Carta has inspired political and human rights campaigners. An ongoing British
Library exhibition raises questions about its symbolism for more recent campaigners. Taking
inspiration form this read out recent blog posting on Helena Normanton and a Magna Carta for Women.
