Dear Colleagues,

Yesterday, Wednesday 17th June Andy Appleyard (Head of Document Supply, Imaging and Customer Services at the British Library) announced the re-launch of the British Library Document Supply Service as British Library On Demand.<ondemand.bl.uk> The re-launch is to highlight recent improvements to our service and we are delighted to announce the general release of ‘Plug-in-Less’ DRM as a delivery option.

· Adobe LiveCycle Digital Rights Management<LCDRM.bl.uk> (LCDRM) is an electronic delivery method that allows the British Library to supply secure, encrypted documents and ensure that the item is used only as permitted and that the rights of the copyright holder are protected. Access to the document is by Username and Password via Adobe Reader 10 or above. The document is locked to a user rather than a machine, meaning it can be viewed from anywhere on any machine, including mobile devices. Users are required to be registered on BLDSS<http://www.bldss.bl.uk/BLDSS/>/On Demand<Ondemand.bl.uk> to enable them to open documents.

·

· Business Account Administrators and Account Managers can log in to the Business Account Administration<https://businessaccount.bl.uk/Ui/BusinessAccountLogin.aspx> page and amend the ‘Copy Encryption Format’ to LCDRM. This is in the Document Supply Ordering Options tab. Alternatively Customer Services<http://www.bl.uk/aboutus/contact/list-of-contacts/> can update your preference.

The principal change to the User Interface is the rewrite of the web pages from Flash to HTML5. This makes British Library On Demand<ondemand.bl.uk> much more accessible across a wide range of devices, including tablets, iPhones and iPads. On Demand<ondemand.bl.uk> has a more modern feel and the page response time is much quicker. Delivery notes and header sheets have been rebranded to reflect the re-launch. Our website will also be rebranded and updated to reflect the changes.

If you have any questions or feedback on British Library On Demand<mailto:[log in to unmask]> we would love to hear from you.

Best wishes,

Sue Allison
