Interpretive Writing e-LIVE Course now has several new openings.
Eight Units - 2 CEU Credits
http://www.heritageinterp.com/interpretive_writing_course.html

This is not a workshop but a college level course on how do develop truly "interpretive" writing for museum exhibits, outdoor panels, leaflets, AV scripts or other writing assignments where the copy has to "grab" the attention of the audience and be  "inspirational" as well as "informational".  Our course is based on Tilden's Interpretive Principles and taught by certified interpretive trainers with years of interpretive writing experience and university experience teaching interpretive courses (Provoke, Relate, Reveal, theme based, outcome objective based - memory cues and more).

How does e-LIVE work?  Our interpretive writing e-LIVE course is limited to 10 participants at one time, to allow for maximum interaction with the course instructor.

- You'll be given course content to read and interact with for each of the 8 units of the course.

- The course coach will provide you with reading materials, interpretive text books and articles as part of the course for each unit.

- You'll be given a writing assignment for each unit which you will send to in for review, comments and writing coaching.  You'll be able to talk/communicate with your coach about each assignment via SKYPE, e-mail or phone.  Thus the e-LIVE design of the course.  Prof. John Veverka will be your personal instructor and writing coach with whom you can talk about your work, writing goals or your writing projects.

- When you have completed each course unit you'll be sent the next unit for the course.  Again, you'll be given writing assignments for each unit to submit to John for review, comments and writing coaching as needed.

- When you've completed the 8 Units you'll be awarded a Certificate of Completion and 2 CEU (Continuing Education Unit) credits.

The estimated completion time of the course is about 20 hours - and you can work at your own pace.  You can use/work on actual writing projects you have going on or will be working on in the future to make the coaching more focused and individualized for you.

What are the 8 interpretive writing units?

1. Unit One - What makes the writing "interpretive" anyway? (Tilden +)

2. Unit Two - Planning for Interpretive Writing Projects (theme, objectives +)

3. Unit Three - Tangibles, Intangibles and Universal Concepts for writing.

4. Unit Four - Writing for feeling and imagination - painting with words.

5. Unit Five - Writing for Museum Exhibits - 50 words - really?

6. Unit Six -  Writing for interpretive panels and wayside exhibits.

7. Unit Seven - Writing for self-guiding trail or tour leaflets.

8. Unit Eight - Writing to accomplish management objectives.

When will the course start?  We are taking reservations NOW.  The cost of the 20 hours of training is $200.00 USD, which can be paid for by credit card or PayPal at the course web site  http://www.heritageinterp.com/interpretive_writing_course.html

If you have any questions feel free to ask.
