Bioinformatician – Cambridgeshire – Senior

An interesting new role has become available with one of our clients based in Cambridgeshire. This research organisation is growing their talented team and is seeking a senior level Bioinformatician to join the group on a permanent contract. This company are currently involved in an exciting new development in the emerging field of clinical genomics. Together with the support of recognised institutes and the NHS, they will be making advances in NGS technology in order to deliver clinical genome data and discovery for diagnostic purposes.

Ideally we are looking for someone with experience working on variation analysis of high-throughput sequence data. Candidates who are interested should have the enthusiasm to drive the project forward, fresh ideas and a broad range of technical skills. As a Bioinformatician you will be analysing clinical data, implementing new methods and creating databases. You will be working with real clinical samples so the ability to develop systems and working practices accordingly is essential. The data you will be analysing will directly impact patient diagnoses.

Experience Required:

·         Educated to degree level in Bioinformatics, Computer Science or related area

·         Academic or industry experience will be accepted

·         Wide-ranging knowledge of NGS data analysis and interpretation tools

·         Strong programming in Perl and/or Python

·         SQL Database knowledge (MySQL, Oracle)

·         Working with large compute clusters and developing pipelines

·         Scripting data entry and query, basic administration

·         Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

·         Should be a team player with ambition!
