Dear CRUMB apologies for the interruption to this month's theme, I just wanted to welcome and introduce you to Karin de Wild who has just moved from Rotterdam to (sunny!) Dundee to undertake a PhD at DJCAD with me concerning curatorial practice. Karin looks forward to getting to know the CRUMB research community better and to meet fellow PhD researchers. She has recently been working with Prof. dr. K. Kwastek, to shape her research proposal which asks “How can art museums offer an interactive memory space for Net.Art and which fundamental changes need to be made in the (traditional) memory culture within these institutions?” (This month's theme on Curating Process is thus very relevant!) Karin holds a MA from the Professional Master Course for Museum Curators (2013) from VU University and the University of Amsterdam. Her thesis was on ‘Immemory - Reflections on the Influence of Digital Media on Cultural Memory (Chris Marker)' under the direction of Dr. S. Lutticken. Karin's BA Thesis in Art History from VU University Amsterdam was on ‘Participation in analogue and digital art’ (2010). She is currently working on a symposium entitled ‘Digital Heritage in Museums of Anthropology’ to take place in December at the National Museum of World Cultures, in collaboration with L. Swaving and W. Modest. Since 2012 Karin has been curator at Bergarde Galleries which houses the private collection of Henk van den Berg which includes works by László Moholy-Nagy, Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Mika Rottenberg and Jon Kessler. Bergarde is also a commercial gallery for modern and contemporary art.
