Dear Jean-Luc,
I have been creating an ad hoc gazeteer of Marian pilgrimage sites in Europe for some time now, and the only reference to a "Notre-Dame de Confort" I have found is:
Notre-Dame de Confort, at Chézéry-Forens (Ain), in the diocese of Belley, is a souvenir of the Cistercians, who sanctified the region of Gex.  Saint Roland, a rich English lord, founded, at the end of the 12th century, a chapel to Notre-Dame des Sept-Douleurs, near the monastery of Chézéry, of which he was abbot.  This pilgrimage, formerly very famous, was momentarily eclipsed by the Revolution.  It was restored by the zeal and offerings of Soeur Rosalie (born at Confort, d. Paris, 1856).  Under the gaze of N.D. des Douleurs, she had learned to commiserate with the afflictions of the unfortunate and to comfort them.  The chapel, enlarged by her care, has become a parish church.  Pope Leo XII accorded this pilgrimage many indulgences, and pilgrims crowd here on all feasts of the Virgin.
This seems to indicate that devotion to Notre-Dame de Confort is quite recent, but this is only one shrine with that name.  There could be others, but I have not found them yet.  If you know of any, I would be interested.
Cheers,
Jim
