Dear colleague

Jisc and HESA have joined forces to deliver a new national business intelligence service<http://www.business-intelligence.ac.uk/> for UK education and research, due to launch this November.

Our collaboration has created two projects:

• Heidi-Plus, which will replace the existing Heidi service, providing a real step change in end user functionality
• Heidi-Lab, an exciting new Jisc project to develop a national business intelligence experimentation service. This will draw on a wide range of data sources with successful outputs being considered for inclusion in Heidi-Plus

We warmly invite you or one of your colleagues to join our business intelligence data experts group and participate in the group’s first event, a one day workshop in Manchester on Wednesday 24 June 2015. At the workshop we will begin to identify data sources for Heidi-Lab and explore the additional activities of the expert group as it goes forward.

Benefits of participating
• Identify and access a wide range of data sources to enhance business intelligence for your own institution and the education sector
• Co-develop analyses and visualisations that institutions working alone may struggle to achieve
• Influence and enhance business intelligence in your institution and across the UK
• See your most successful analyses offered through Heidi-Plus

Who do we need?

We are looking for people who:

• Understand the sorts of questions people in HE need answers to
• Have experience of providing customers with analysis and visualisations
• Have access to relevant networks and colleagues to raise awareness of the business intelligence data experts group and encourage people to join
• Know the data landscape (what is out there) and have a wish list of data sources for such purposes
• Understand the access issues associated with different data sources
• Have views on the quality and potential of different data sources
How to get involved
If you or a colleague are interested in this opportunity, please complete the short online application form<https://www.eventsforce.net/jisc/frontend/reg/thome.csp?pageID=118928&eventID=427&eventID=427> by 29 May 2015, including some information about your interest and particular areas of expertise and experience (see section ‘Who do we need’). We will try to get a broad balance of expertise and experience and will let you know by 9 June 2015 if you’ve been selected for the expert group and our first workshop.

If you are unable to join us on 24 June but would like to be considered for future business intelligence data expert opportunities, please tick the relevant box in the online form.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided at the workshop and travel expenses, accompanied by receipts, will be reimbursed.

We very much hope you can join us and if you have any queries about the workshop please [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>.

With best wishes
