The Role
The School of Advanced Study, University of London, is at a defining moment in its history, having received a resounding vote of confidence in the public

its support for humanities researchers in the UK and internationally the School invites applications for an
Early Career Researcher in Translation/Translingual Studies.
The Institute of Modern Languages Research is one of nine institutes in the School of Advanced Study, University of London. It is the successor of the Institute
of Germanic Studies and the Institute of Romance Studies, University of London, founded in 1950 and 1989 respectively. It provides a distinctive interdisciplinary forum for research promotion and facilitation, at a national and international level, in the
languages and cultures of Europe (primarily Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal and Spain), Latin America, and other Francophone and Lusophone countries.
The Institute of Modern Languages Research is seeking a part-time Early Career Researcher on a one year fixed term basis to promote and facilitate new research
and outreach initiatives in Translation and/or Translingual Studies, nationally and internationally. The post holder will be encouraged to produce excellent research and publications and to actively seek external research funding.
Requirements
The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate a keen interest in academic research within the field of Translation and/or Translingual Studies.
Well-developed academic writing and editing skills as well as previous experience of using various social media platforms, and writing / publishing on blogs are essential to the role.
In addition, a strong ability to work collaboratively with others and develop networks across multiple sectors is essential, along with a willingness and
desire to participate in the wider scholarly mission of the School of Advanced Study.
