I would be most grateful if you could help me to promote this PhD
Studentship:

Research: Smartphone Delivery of Spatial Information for Urban Wayfinding

A broad range of information is required when moving through urban
environments. Pedestrians variously require street maps,
timetable information, indoor maps, and schematic maps. What is
delivered, and when is governed by task. The challenge is not in the
delivery of spatial information per se but linking different information
to various sub elements of the task. So this research is concerned with
delivery of context aware maps over mobile phones. The research is
particularly relevant to those with an interest in visualisation, mobile
technologies, Interface design, and multi scale mapping.

Commencing in September 2015, the post is targeted at UK students, and
is fully funded for 3.5 years by the EPSRC, and is in collaboration with
the Ordnance Survey in Southampton. For EU students, the grant ONLY pays
University fees (whereas for UK students it pays fees and a really
generous stipend).

Application Form
The application form is a little tricky to find: Begin by clicking on
the following link:
http://www.ed.ac.uk/schools-departments/geosciences/postgraduate/phd/applying/process
Under 'Degree Finder' click the letter 'G'. This will generate a choice,
from which you select 'Earth Sciences'. Under 'Research Areas' on the
Earth Sciences page, click 'Atmospheric & Environmental Sciences PhD,
MPhil.'
On the right you will see a heading 'Apply for this degree'. Select the
first option, which is the 3yr full time pathway. When you type 'Apply'
it will take you to the University wide admissions system called EUCLID.
