The Nederlandse Taalunie, or Dutch Language Union, the Dutch-Flemish government agency that supports all aspects of the Dutch language, has recently announced drastic cuts in its support for Dutch at foreign universities. British teachers and students of Dutch will be dismayed by, for example, the fact that the Taalunie's own successful summer courses are being abolished and students will no longer receive scholarships for such summer courses. Those of you who read Dutch may want to follow the discussion on this in Neder-L, the online Dutch Studies magazine: http://is.gd/8RzccW. You can also post your reactions there.
