The Department of Neotectonics and Thermochronology, Institute of Rock Structure and Mechanics, seeks an applicant for research scientist position in thermochronology.

The candidate will start and lead a newly formed laboratory, which will focus on low-temperature U-Th/He chronology. The preferred candidate will have demonstrated experience in running a thermochronology as he/she will operate the machine for the extraction and gases measurement and will be responsible for the helium dating process The selected candidate will be encouraged to lead his/her own research with freedom to develop the methodology, will be expected to write proposals, collaborate with other interested groups, and publish scientific papers. He/she will be provided by a technician for mineral separation and an analytical chemist.

Position requirements: 
1) Candidates are required to have completed the PhD degree prior to taking up the appointment or less preferably prior to start the position. The start date for the position is negotiable, but preferably during the fall 2015; (2) Although various backgrounds will be considered, experience in low-temperature thermochronology - helium dating technique and in operating a device for helium extraction and analysis (for example AlphachronTM etc.) is especially highly desirable; (3) Good interpersonal and communication skills and a collaborative style of research are required.

Initial appointment is for 3 years with a possibility for additional 2 years and it has the potential for becoming permanent position after first evaluation and good progress.
