Hi all,

We also asked for the RBG-0910 GUM to Univar in UK & Spain and the minimum quantity of polymer to buy and the price was similar to the volume commented by Bruno. An interesting option could be to contact intermediaries who sometimes have small stocks as you are looking. Otherwise, unless you specifically need this product, you could search alternative polymers with equivalent mechanical properties.

Cheers,

Oriol

Hi everybody,
I just ordered some of this product and I can confirm that SGM 36 has changed its name and that the minimum quantity is, indeed, 5 barrels, which means more than 6000 euros.
Cheers,

Dear Florian,

in our lab (www.next.unipr.it) we bought silicon by Xiameter a couple of years ago .
At that time the so-called SGM-36 silicon changed its name in RBG-0910 GUM manifactured by Xiameter (subsidiary from DowCorning, the original producer), sold by ! UnivarEurope.
The minimum quantity supplied is 450kg (in five barrels of about 90kg), at about 20¤/kg.

Keep in touch for further info.

Good afternoon,

I am looking for a UK-based supplier of reasonable quantities (10-20kg) of silicon putty I want to use in SG practicals, could anyone point me in the right direction? A quick search of the geo-tectonics archives did not reveal a previous thread on this, apologies if I missed it.

Thanks a lot in advance!

Florian
