Good afternoon all

Dropbox has raised it's ever so ugly head again at an organisation I work with. Committee members would like to share documents using Dropbox which may contain patient data. I have previously resisted this as Dropbox is American and run using US laws which give Government agencies access to the files if requested.

As of 1 June Dropbox is running an Irish branch which the users believe will make them have to obey Data Protection legislation.

I have been looking up their new terms and conditions and found this line.

  Controlling Law
These Terms will be governed by California law except for its conflicts of laws principles, unless otherwise required by a mandatory law of any other jurisdiction.

With this and the general insecurity for which Dropbox has previously been noted I am going to say no to the sharing using this method.

Is anyone else thinkiing of using Dropbox? Am I being wrong headed in rejecting them?

Regards
Chris
