The Network Rail strike is a big deal - not just because it's the first national strike on the railways since 1994; not just because it's the first major national strike since the re-election of the Tories; not just because of the massive ballot turnout; not just because a company which made £1bn profit and whose directors enjoyed 45%+ pay rises last year is telling its workers it can't afford a decent pay settlement; but because it's about workers who provide a vital public service resisting attacks on their pay and job security, and the de-staffing of their industry.

Against the further subordination of the railways, along with every other corner of public life, to the needs of profit: back the Network Rail workers' strike!

Some labour movement activists have launched a statement, which will be circulated to the press, in support of the strike.
