And just to complicate the situation further we recently discovered that, while saying Yes to “Reveal Grades only on Post Date” will (exceptions aside) successfully
hide the column from students, it doesn’t currently automatically unhide the column when the Post Date is reached. We had this from Turnitin Support at the end of March:
Engineering has confirmed that there is a known issue with Blackboard Basic where the grade column does not become visible on the post date for
the students despite the settings. The engineering department is currently working on resolving this issue as soon as possible. Currently, we do not have an estimate of when the fix will be ready. As a workaround, the instructor can manually “unhide” the column
so that the grades become visible to the students.
I’m pretty sure “Reveal Grades” used to work OK in this respect, but something seems to have changed.

Agree with Gary that 'reveal grades' should address the specific issue. However, we have come across two situations where it didn't
because of something instructors did. Here's an explanation of what we found out were the two reasons where that happened

Hi Stuart
The optional Turnitin setting "Reveal grades to students only on post date?" should address the specific issue you're talking about. Set it to Yes and the grades would be held back and only released on the post date (along with the feedback).

Hi Anna,
The only time I have been aware of this kind of issue cropping up here at Swansea has been when assignments being marked through Turnitin Grademark have been marked without anonymity being used.
Bb Grade centre then ignores the Post Date and posts Grades Only (no feedback) out to the students through My Grades as soon as they have been marked.
We have managed to stop this happening by hiding the assignment column in GradeCentre which seems to have prevented the early release of the marks. The column then needs to be unhidden at the post date before the students can see their Grades in My Grades.

Stuart
