I would like to invite colleagues to the workshop THE FRENCH REVOLUTION EFFECT that will take place at King's College, London on 4-5 June 2015.

The workshop will host a group of UK and international scholars of Enlightenment and Romanticism. The focus of the discussion will be on the Revolution’s explosive outward radiation throughout Europe at the end of the eighteenth century and the beginning of the nineteenth. Our aim is to track the crossed temporalities of progress, resurgence and belatedness, as each nation negotiated the prospect of a new beginning in its own terms. The workshop will end with the first English-language performance of the one-act revolutionary play by Sylvain Maréchal’s 'Le Jugement dernier des rois' (1793) on 5 June at 6pm.

The complete programme and a form for registering interest are available on the King's website:
http://www.kcl.ac.uk/artshums/ahri/eventrecords/2014-2015/CESK/frenchreveffect.aspx

Attendance is free but registration is required to help us organise the seating plan of the performance. The workshop is organised by Rosa Mucignat and Sanja Perovic with the support of the Centre for Enlightenment Studies at King's.

Best wishes,
Rosa Mucignat
