Explore Your Archives – the road to democracy and human rights mini campaign – June 2015

We’re very pleased to announce some changes to this year’s Explore Your Archive campaign.

The Explore Your Archive<http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/archives-sector/explore-your-archive-toolkit.htm> (EYA) campaign coordinated by The National Archives and the Archives and Records Association (UK and Ireland) is now entering its third year. The main campaign week ran around November has been extremely successful and we know that:

· More archives took part in 2014 building on the success of the first year

· The vast majority felt EYA was a success for their service and for the sector

· Over one third of archives learned new skills

· EYA website rated very highly and used by most archives

· High level of engagement with digital campaigns via social media

But this year we wanted to make it even better and create a mini campaign<http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/archives-sector/explore-your-archive-toolkit.htm> to run in June 2015 in time for the commemoration of the Magna Carta.

While we know that few archives hold a copy of the Magna Carta we anticipate that many of you will have records relating to the road to democracy, our legal system and access to rights as a human being.

This is a chance for archives to get involved in a national campaign 2015: Parliament in the Making<http://www.parliament.uk/2015> and join the debate on why democracy matters.

Please note that we will still run the main campaign in from 14-22 November 2015.

Kind Regards

Jenny
